Tasks/Assignments for intern: The Development intern is a new internship for the Women's Center of Wake County. We are looking for interns to assist with day to day tasks such as volunteer management, database management, event planning,
community outreach, and other items that come up.
Ideal student description: Our ideal candidate is flexible, outgoing, accepting, understanding of populations with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, and nonjudgmental with the LGBTQ community, including respecting pronouns. They have a strong work ethic and like to have fun while working. This is a placement with a seasoned Development Director who spent seven years at the LGBT Center of Raleigh, and two at Orange County Rape Crisis Center. We are interested in students who want to learn about the non-clinical side of nonprofits.
They will also be working with a volunteer coordinator who has worked for The Women’s Center of Wake County for 5 years.
Our commitment is that our interns will learn, have fun, and feel free to express their opinions. We expose them to as many meetings and events as possible. They will be listened to, treated kindly, and we will feed them sometimes!
