Tasks/Assignments for intern: with our family justice center program- we have staff that are dedicated to being present in the courtroom where protection orders are heard to provide advocacy and support; in our community based program- they could answer our phone line, greet visitors, shadow intakes and case management; the DV shelter allows for crisis line experience, support groups, intakes, discharge planning, and case management.
Ideal student description: Someone who has interests in domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and can be empathetic to this population. Someone who is a self-starter with initiative would be great as well.
