Tasks/Assignments for intern: Families Together serves families experiencing homelessness in Wake County. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, enrolled families can receive emergency shelter, housing assistance, case management, mental health support, assistance with finding and maintaining employment, financial education, and referrals. Families Together is also actively involved in policy advocacy and community work related to housing services and affordable housing. Interns can participate in both direct client services as well as policy advocacy and community work.
Ideal student description: Interns at Families Together must be consistent and trustworthy. Timely response to client needs and accurate documentation are important. Given the emotional nature of the work, the intern must be able to stay calm and collected during a crisis.
