Tasks/Assignments for intern: The DPS Foundation is launching several new initiatives this fall to address critical needs shaped by COVID-19. Potential interns would largely work within our newly developed DPS Family Support Fund program. They would be responsible for receiving, responding, and documenting family requests, assisting with managing the fund's database, following up with families and assessing longer-term needs, building/maintaining our community resource list, and referring families to appropriate community organizations and resources. Interns would also assist with research and program evaluation work. Interns may also be assigned supportive tasks within our other new programs if desired, such as the Digital Equity Campaign and the Durham HOPE Network (Harnessing our Partnerships for Education).
Ideal student description: The ideal student possesses a strong racial equity lens and is able to communicate and engage with diverse groups of students, educators, families, and community leaders. We are seeking someone who recognizes systemic inequity in schools and is interested in transforming public education through community-driven solutions. This placement is a good fit for a student interested in a macro/micro experience.
