Tasks/Assignments for intern: Provide technical support in planning anti-trafficking awareness and education events. Participate in local community meetings fostering collaboration. Conduct research and assist in creating/adapting technical articles, training materials, presentations, as well as awareness and marketing materials with an anti-trafficking focus. Compile reports to assess the impact of trafficking, intersections of trafficking with other issue areas, response to trafficking, specific anti-trafficking legislation, and current anti-trafficking organizations working locally and nationally.
Ideal student description: The ideal student is passionate about creating safe communities free from the the violence of human trafficking and its intersecting issue areas. They are able to work independently while also open to collaboration and input on projects. They get excited about community outreach and education efforts with an eye towards building effective and sustainable resources for survivors of human trafficking. They have some background knowledge of human trafficking, domestic violence, and/or sexual assault as well as some exposure to working for and with governmental agencies. Overall, they are enthusiastic about the challenge and opportunity of creating and strengthening community networks.
