Tasks/Assignments for intern: This is our first year with the school and YMCA opening up next week. We will be able to provide more details about how/where the students will be working with youth and families from Southeast Raleigh as we wrap up and reflect on our first semester. It will be a variety of micro, mezzo, macro work in order to foster our mission of ending intergenerational poverty in Southeast Raleigh with a largely African American and Latinx community.
Ideal student description: Student that is committed to and knowledgeable about the impact of race and inequity in institutions. Passionate about helping all people reach their full potential - particularly vulnerable communities. Someone that takes initiiative, works independently and as a team player, uses an asset-based approach to youth and family work, and is willing to sit with a learning edge (stay flexible and perspective take). Student that grew up in Southeast Raleigh or is bilingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred given our community's population.
Pay/stipend offered?: No
