Other Functions: Capacity-building and faciliating training and technical assistance for youth serving professionals will also be an important aspect of the work, as well as content generation on key issues impacting youth in the arenas of emotional wellbeing and academic success.
Tasks/Assignments for intern: The intern will work closely with the Executive Director as the supervising staff as well as the Operations Director. A portion of the role will be focused on gaining an understanding of the administrative/infrastructure aspects of agency management that are essential to establishing and advancing key community initiatives focused on youth wellbeing. In addition, there will be great opportunities to interface with a broad cross-section of community organizations through Action Teams and other collective impact convenings and initiatives. The ability to generate important content and information on topics like bullying, suicide prevention, culturally relevant practices in education, etc. are examples of focus areas.
Concrete tasks include: research/information presentations on findings; data review; participating on community action teams; active engagement in the planning for engagements with stakeholder groups including the Board, lead community agencies, organizing trainings, support for the development/implementation of stakeholder surveys, etc.
Ideal student description: An ideal student for this placement will be someone who will enjoy work centered on community stragegies and the cultivation of community partnerships toward collective problem solving. A student who is knowledgeable about and can bring perspectives related to culturally relevant practices and overall energy around the integration of a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to positive youth development is important. Also, a person who is interested in the macro concepts of administration and organizational management will be an important element of the work. There are numerous opportunities for exposure to data/visual analytics platform and how data can drive agency practices.
