Tasks/Assignments for intern: Counseling: Interns will have the opportunity to work with individuals and groups. The number of clinical hours will vary depending on the clinical needs of the office. Crisis Response: Provide crisis counseling for walk-in appointments and helpline coverage as needed. Individual Counseling: Provide assessments and trauma-focused, short-term counseling to students who have experience sexual and relationship violence. Group Counseling: Intern will assist in planning group curriculum and co-facilitate weekly support group sessions. Case Management: Interns will be expected to collaborate with other offices and partners to provide support to student clients. Partners include University Police, Title IX, Office of Academic Advising, and more. Advocacy: Accompany students to Title IX meetings, police interviews, health appointments, SANE exams, and court dates as needed. Prevention and Programming: Assist in developing and delivering outreach presentations and programming
Ideal student description: Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of gender related issues and other cultural influences of sexual and domestic/intimate partner violence and stalking. Understanding of applicable privileged communication laws, and the ability to manage confidential information and to use sound judgment in responding to crisis situations. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented groups on campus. Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability related to crisis response for sexual assault and domestic/intimate partner violence prevention, and stalking with college-age populations. Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills including public speaking, internet communications, and use of relevant technologies. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work and think independently and contribute to a team oriented work environment.
