Other Functions:
Tasks/Assignments for intern: Interns at NCVAN assist other staff in our work with victims of violent crime and their loved ones in a variety of capacities. Primary areas of our work include developing support groups for homicide survivors; engaging and equipping volunteers to support loved ones of murder victims; researching systems with which victims interact; researching resources for victim/survivors; resource and referral for all kinds of crime victims who call; training victim advocates and volunteers in order to improve services and programs for victims; and lifting victims' needs and voices on policy matters. Intern tasks include research - online, telephone and in person; networking with community partners; conversation with victim/survivors; resource and referral; engagement, training & support of volunteers; correspondence; participating in training; general outreach and publicity; data collection; evaluation of programs and more.
