Tasks/Assignments for intern: We are an agency that does a variety of things. At this time, I feel our deaf blind consumers aren't getting the resources and support they need.We have a deaf blind staff who specializes in this area and she has a MSW as well. I think an intern placed with her could do so much for our growing deafblind population in the Triangle area as she can't do everything alone.
Ideal student description: The idea student would be someone who is deaf or hard of hearing who knows Sign Language, if not, we can work with hearing as well. Have knowledge and experience working with deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind populations. someone who can bring a lot of ideas and creative ways to reach out to our consumers. We want our consumers to self advocate for themselves.
