Tasks/Assignments for intern: Interns with the Adolescent Parenting Program (APP) usually work with the social worker with the largest case load and will take on a small number of those cases. The intern will start with shadowing this worker and learn about the available community resources. She will then work independently to aid in providing services to these clients. In working with these clients she/he will provide educational information (parenting, housing, daycare, transportation, etc), give referrals to appropriate community resources, provide guidance to clients in making appropriate choices, monitor clients grade/attendance, aid in transporting, attend/supervise appointments with clients, make school visits, make home visits, and more. She will be held responsible for maintaining documentation for her clients and others that she assists with. She will aid in planning and providing educational group meetings for clients. Attend community meetings and learn about available community resources .
Ideal student description: The ideal intern for APP would be someone who is passionate about working with at risk youth and small children. Someone who is open minded and willing to go the extra mile.
