Tasks/Assignments for intern: Generalist students need experiences in assessments and case management. Sample tasks for Generalist internships include, but are not limited to the following: completing intakes, linking clients to resources at other community agencies, and conducting parenting classes. Clinical students need community-based , clinically oriented experiences allowing them to apply specific interventions from various models of treatment in their clinical practice with individuals, families, and groups. Sample tasks include, but are not limited to the following: completing psycho-social assessment, establishing treatment plans with clients, conducting counseling with individuals, couples, and families; and facilitating psycho educational support groups.
Ideal student description: The ideal student that would be suitable for a placement in our agency would embody the following characteristics: the ability to perform as a team player; the ability to work with students in adverse situations; the ability to communicate effectively in conversation and in writing.
