Tasks/Assignments for intern: Visits to skilled-level nursing facilities and homes to meet with consumers.
Engaging in multi-system advocacy for consumers.
Carrying out Independent Living Philosophy through empowering consumers to make choices and lead their own transition.
Phone calls with Money Follows the Person supervisors.
Documentation including case notes, budgets, incident reports, information and referral, and intakes and assessments.
Attending community meetings with other agencies working with people with disabilities.
Attending staff meetings.
Collaborating with staff and other agencies on grant-writing.
Student interns are welcome to come up with their own projects that would be of benefit to the agency and their own coursework.
Ideal student description: Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply (disabilities include anything that affects one or more major life activities; this includes physical, intellectual/developmental, emotional, or cognitive disabilities).
An ideal student would:

-Be able to identify with some part of the disabilities rights movement
-Not just be "tolerant" of others, but celebrate differences

-Be familiar with the NASW Code of Ethics
