Tasks/Assignments for intern: The intern would help with the Farmworker Advocacy Network and the Levante Leadership Institute. The student would attend and facilitate grassroots communications meetings as well as write listserve updates, blog posts, facebook, twitter and pinterest updates. The intern would support the migrant youth program at SAF and facilitate parent education. The youth program focuses on leadership development, farmworker advocacy, helping students/parents to achieve a higher education and fighting for tuition equity.
Ideal student description: A student who has a basic understanding of farmworker issues, Latino issues, legislative advocacy, social media, and youth/parent education. Ideally the student would also have anti-oppression training, meeting facilitation skills, and speak Spanish.
For BSW Students, only summer placement is available. For MSW Students, applications for placement are accepted in July and August for a September start.
